The Mexican Revolution (1910)

FIRST COMMITTEE:  THE FORCES IN POWER
Committee Crisis Director: Sachi Goankar

SECOND COMMITTEE:  THE REVOLUTIONARY FORCES
Committee Crisis Director:
 Courtney Yribarren

The revolution of 1910 forced Porfirio Díaz to resign after 31 years in power. Free from the rule of an autocrat, Mexico is ready to establish a government that works for the people, specifically the farmers who suffered under the Díaz regime. On November 6, 1911, Francisco Madero ascended to the Presidency with the goal of uniting the country. His ascendant government continues to face threats, however, with regional militias still assembled after the fall of Díaz’s government. The new government must unite the fractured country while making the lives of the farmers who support the government better.

Danger, however, lurks around every corner. A series of elites who remain in power throughout the country aim to see the new government fail, hoping for a return of the power structures from the previous regime. Additionally, some of Madero’s previous allies are turning against him due to perceived policy slights. The new government is forced to balance domestic issues with foreign meddling from the United States. Will Madero be able to unite the country and keep the delicate peace that's enveloped the country since Díaz resigned? Or will continued factionalism among the government and unity among its enemies see an end to this newborn democracy? Only time will tell…
