Dear Delegates and Advisors,
In 2007, Duke’s International Relations Association (DIRA) took its first steps to cement itself as one of the premier providers of simulated United Nations and international body experiences on the collegiate circuit in the American South. With the end goal of cultivating an enriching and connecting competitive forum, the organization established the Duke International Security Conference (DISCon). From then on, DISCon gifted delegates from across North America with a fulfilling annual conference…up until the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it is my privilege and honor to welcome the triumphant return of DISCon, formalizing DIRA’s transition into a world after the emergence of the pandemic. This world hosts far more interconnectivity and conflict in comparison to the world present at DISCon’s inception, something we hope is reflected in DISCon XIIV--to occur from February 8th to 11th 2024 at Duke University's coveted East Campus. |
The theme of our conference this year is TBD.
I hope that your delegation will join us as we usher in a new era of DISCon and attend a conference crafted from the passion and hard work of our loyal secretariat. We are beyond excited to host schools from far and wide in Durham, North Carolina, and we are determined to fortify DISCon as the best one yet. Mark our return in your notes and watch closely for the opening of registration. DISCon has been revived!
Sincerely,
Robert Sprung
Secretary-General of DISCon XIV
